University of Oklahoma Parking Facility

The University of Oklahoma is a public research university located in Norman, Oklahoma. Founded in 1890, the university’s enrollment has grown to 28,000 students at its main campus. In response to the increased parking demands on campus, the University chose to proceed with construction of the 1,220 car, Jenkins Ave. University of Oklahoma Parking Facility.

The University of Oklahoma parking facility responds architecturally to the surrounding historical campus, where brick and cast stone are a predominant finish. Notably, architectural Precast, featuring cast-in-brick, was selected as the façade material to clad the 5-level, cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete structure. In particular, the 280 cladding components included: spandrels, wall panels, and decorative cornice features.

As on most college campuses, brick color and texture selection are often given special consideration. Namely, Enterprise Precast, through the sampling process, was able to identify and source an effective release agent. This allowed for the use of the deep wire cut “OU Mingle” ACME Brick to match the surrounding structures. In summary, the University Oklahoma parking facility’s architectural precast facade ties many elements of the campus together, creating a classic and iconic look.
